It's nice to know that I'm not alone in this ordeal. Baby skin is just far too precious to let the sun hurt it, isn't it? Thank you for sharing your story to make me feel not so 'abnormal'! =)Sandrahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16187306461239093068noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1722828176120073793.post-36777758388460794362012-05-18T22:39:02.636-05:002012-05-18T22:39:02.636-05:00Oh poor you. When I was new here in the US, I wanted to use my umbrella to keep myself away from the sun. My husband laughed at me.

Anyway, when I had my first child, I read all about sun protection for children. I was worried for him because he did not have my skin pigmentation. I freaked out when he was put near the window, I fussed that the car window had no protector, and so one. One day, we had to bring him out to the car in the hot sun. There were about 5 -6 meters between the door and the car. My baby had no sunscreen on.
I ran all the way to the back of the house, made everybody get, so that I could have an.... umbrella over my son's head. :-)

Oh well.

~ImeldaAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1722828176120073793.post-38335529089280513592012-05-18T22:23:23.962-05:002012-05-18T22:23:23.962-05:00Oh, Michelle, I've only ever known that sunscr...Oh, Michelle, I've only ever known that sunscreen was good for you, at least against harmful UVA and UVB rays! It never occurred to me that those chemicals were 'nasty'! I guess I need to do something reading on this. Or just be myself and stay the heck away from the sun at all costs.

I thought it might have been 'sensory processing disorder', but I didn't want to use the term incorrectly. I just very much dislike a lot of textures of my hands. I think I'm surfacing more and more issues now that I'm getting older. Hmmm.Sandrahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16187306461239093068noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1722828176120073793.post-10745240618862356652012-05-18T22:19:24.600-05:002012-05-18T22:19:24.600-05:00Yes, I am white as a ghost, too! Which means like...Yes, I am white as a ghost, too! Which means like you, I burn pretty easily. I use foundation with SPF, and I also get lazy with the rest of my body. Funny you mention the umbrella! In Asian countries, everyone uses umbrellas for the sun anywhere that has no shade. It's quite a comical scene to see umbrellas everywhere on the streets on a sunny day. =)Sandrahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16187306461239093068noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1722828176120073793.post-84816633797523063862012-05-18T22:13:40.142-05:002012-05-18T22:13:40.142-05:00Tran, I always just assume people think I'm nu...Tran, I always just assume people think I'm nuts when it comes to the sun and sunscreen, so I am glad to find someone who can relate! My 'dedication' is nowhere near 100%, but I just try. And I usually get lazy on myself, since I hate it so much. Thanks for your kind comments!Sandrahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16187306461239093068noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1722828176120073793.post-59066933945511582012-05-18T22:05:07.887-05:002012-05-18T22:05:07.887-05:00I dunno.... I might disagree with your statement that the sunscreen is making your cells mutate more slowly ;) The nasty chemicals that are in most sunscreens, yuck! Just sayin' but I LOVE the stories of your how children have very well absorbed your sun issues.

And the texture stuff? Yeah, sensory processing disorder. But I'm with you on textures. It's all good.Michellehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07803503583347758969noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1722828176120073793.post-52377197499790983072012-05-18T21:41:24.797-05:002012-05-18T21:41:24.797-05:00I'm horrible about putting sunscreen on the ki...I'm horrible about putting sunscreen on the kids (don't have time to do it before I go to work), plus, I don't like it on my hands, either. If they are going to the pool, I always do it...but I still don't like it. I'm white as a ghost, so I avoid the sun. I put a lightweight sunscreen on my face and neck every day, but the rest of my body is done only when I plan to be in the sun. (I try to remember an umbrella, too.)Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1722828176120073793.post-38760544914198735782012-05-18T19:43:07.595-05:002012-05-18T19:43:07.595-05:00Sandra, I enjoy reading all your blogs but this is...Sandra, I enjoy reading all your blogs but this is definitely one of my favorites. I don't have your dedication in applying sunscreen but I fret when I'm at work and realize I forgot to apply sunscreen on the kids before leaving for work. Thanks for sharing the funny incidents of DD and DS! So glad I'm not alone in lathering on the sunscreen on kids and DH think I'm nuts.Tranhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05784800064359719017noreply@blogger.com
